    Description

These are three pieces of ephemera and bits of history from the US Navy's triumphant worldwide tour of 1907-08, the 'Great White Fleet.'   These three books were in my grandparents' house from the earliest I can remember (1960s), then came to my parents, then me.  The mystery is where, or who, they came from, as there seem to have been no family members who would have been in the Navy at that time.  (There was also an album of postcards collected by whoever had these, which I hope to list soon, and somewhere there's an album of snapshots taken by someone on the USS Kearsarge.)
The program from the Navy's stop at Amoy, China, is the prize of this group.  Though it has quite a bit of age staining, particularly toward the back (my grandparents lived in the humid South), it's complete and the pages are supple.  Whoever owned it refrained from filling in any of the pages.
The second piece is a souvenir book from the Australian stop, obviously printed quickly for the occasion.  The black and white photos are pretty standard, the spine is loose, covers have some wrinkling from moisture, but it's all there.
The third piece is a very slim book of colored photographs from Egypt, with the pages very loose.  It looks like the last page was originally glued to the inside back cover, but has come loose.  There's a slight loss in the middle of that photo. However, nothing is torn or missing.
If you have questions, or can tell me anything further about this material, I'd be glad to hear from you.
I will pack carefully, with mylar sleeves (not that it matters now!) and ship USPS Priority.
    Thanks for looking!
