The hilt has been painted gold, but most of the paint is faded or missing. The blade is in decent condition, fairly clean, but has four pretty big nicks in the edge. The scabbard is an original 1860 scabbard, so is not correct for this model sword, but does fit it. The scabbard has some heavy rust and pitting at the drag, and two dents between the drag and middle mount. The scabbard is slightly rusty overall.

    Description

This is a US Model 1906 Ames Sword Company Cavalry Sword / Saber  and earlier US Civil War 1860 Saber Scabbard. The saber was probably used by a studio, as it has had the hilt, probably including the grip, painted gold. Most of the gold paint is faded or worn off. The sword itself is the 1906, with an iron guard. The blade is clearly marked as can be seen in my photos. The blade is in decent condition, with minor stains from rust, but has four pretty bad nicks on the edge. The scabbard is a bit of a treasure, as it is an original US Civil War Model 1860 Cavalry Saber scabbard. It is in pretty good condition, but has some very bad rust and pitting at the drag. The rest of the scabbard body has light rust on it, but should clean pretty decently. The sword is 42 1/2inches long overall. The blade is 35 inches long.
